Phased electrical and fire safety installation for Ibstock Brick Futures Division

Ibstock Brick logo

Woodward Group successfully delivered a phased electrical and fire safety installation for Ibstock Brick’s Futures Division at its Nostell manufacturing site, supporting both traditional and modern methods of brick slip production.

Ibstock Brick is a leading manufacturer within the UK construction sector, with its Futures Division specialising in innovative brick slip products for modern building systems.

Phase 1

The Nostell site project was delivered across two phases. Phase 1, which completed in 2024, involved the full electrical and fire fit-out of the cut and bond building, which uses traditional manufacturing methods for the production of brick slips. The works provided a robust and compliant infrastructure to support day-to-day operations within this part of the facility.

Phase 2

Phase 2 was completed last year and focused on the main factory, which houses modern methods of production, incorporating automation, waste reduction, improved efficiency, and enhanced product quality. Woodward Group was responsible for the installation of a comprehensive high and low-voltage electrical infrastructure alongside a site-wide open protocol fire alarm system.

The project included a new HV installation, featuring a dedicated substation, earth matrix, and primary supply cabling. On the LV side, the team installed a bespoke form 4 floor-standing U-shaped LV mains panel, six panel boards, and more than fifteen distribution boards throughout the factory. Associated sub-mains and LV power supplies were provided to field equipment, OEM machinery, and control panels, alongside localised wiring, interconnecting safety circuits, and communication cabling.

Safe, reliable and future proof

Through careful coordination and detailed planning, all works were delivered to support the site’s advanced manufacturing processes while ensuring safety, reliability, and future scalability.

The successful completion of both phases has equipped Ibstock Brick’s Nostell facility with a modern, efficient, and compliant electrical and fire safety infrastructure that underpins the continued growth and innovation of its Futures Division.
