Woodward Group supplied the electrical installation and EC&I works for a new flagship metal can manufacturing facility in Peterborough.

Woodward Group has worked in partnership with Crown Holdings for more than five years on multiple sites across the UK and in Europe. We were approached by the international projects team to tender for the electrical and EC&I installation works for their brand new beverage can manufacturing facility at Delta Park, Peterborough, which will be Europe’s largest facility of this kind.

Crown Holdings provides a range of aluminium and tinplate beverage cans. The new state-of-the-art, bespoke facility features multiple manufacturing lines to meet the growing customer requirements for sustainable beverage packaging options in the UK.

Our project involved the installation of site-wide networking panels, power supplies onto the production line motors and control cabling to the sensors and motor auxiliary’s.

The project was fast-paced to ensure the plant was operational at the earliest possible date. Once the first manufacturing line was complete and commissioned, production began, which meant we had to apply our stringent hygiene and safety standards throughout the remainder of the project to ensure there was no contamination. We completed the project in just under 12 months, scaling our workforce accordingly during peak times to ensure it remained on track.

Due to our high standards of work and reliability, Crown Holdings also asked us to help them out on their other international projects where work had stalled or not been completed to the required standards. We are looking forward to continuing our partnership with Crown Holdings.
