Fire alarm system installation for Creative Foods

Woodward Group provided food manufacturer Creative Foods, which is part of the American-owned OSI Group, with a site-wide fire alarm system installation.

Following the closure of the Kerry Foods factory – one of the largest employers in the Burton on Trent area – back in August 2019, Creative Foods moved into the site on Mosely Street with substantial investment and the ambition of bringing employment opportunities back to the area.

Creative Foods is an established manufacturer and supplier of high-quality menu solutions & products to the UK food service and retail markets. It sought to transform the existing building into a high-tech facility tailored specifically to the company’s business model.

As Woodward Group was already involved in undertaking electrical project works for the business, we were asked to tender for the site-wide fire alarm system installation. We were successful in our bid and awarded the contract, which ran for approximately three months.

The project involved installing new state-of-the-art detection to the process areas where temperatures drop to- 40 degrees. We also installed and commissioned 5 Vesda-VEU systems, upgraded and networked panels, and installed new detection to office areas and voids. All works were completed whilst keeping a fully functional system and with minimal disruption.

Following the successful complete of all fire alarms works, Woodward Group also gained the maintenance contracts for various disciplines, including fire alarm emergency lighting and door access. We were also asked to upgrade the emergency lighting system throughout the entire site.
